Christian Outreach and Pastoral Care Commission

The goal of the commission and the many ministries that come under its umbrella is to reach out to Light of Christ parishioners and beyond to all who are hurting in some way. This pain could be physical, emotional and/or psychological in nature. Our goal is to minister to and relieve the pain if possible and ultimately to bring that person and/or persons closer to Jesus and the Catholic faith.

Eucharistic Ministers Homebound Nursing Home

The goal of the Pastoral Care Ministry is to minister and relieve pain if possible to parishioners in need through visitation, and ultimately bring those persons closer to Jesus and the Catholic faith. This ministry includes: Home / Hospital / Nursing Home visitations.

Hands of God

The group does physical labor projects for those who can't. Formed in 1996, it is a loose knit group with abilities from professional builder to rank amateur. Ability means nothing-attitude means everything. Projects have included painting houses, home repairs, remodeling, landscaping, church repairs and other labors of love. Formed on the beliefs that faith without action is like a house built on sand, that labor is prayer in action and there is dignity in all forms of work.

Health Ministry
HIV/AIDS Ministry

People living with HIV / AIDS, their family, friends and caregivers need to feel the warmth and caring of their Catholic Christian Brothers and Sisters. The goal of the HIV / AIDS Ministry is to reach out to those who are infected and affected with the disease. We work closely with the Catholic Charities Aids Buddy Program: If you are interested in helping with service projects or would like more information, call the contact listed.

Samaritans

The Samaritan Group was formed to give comfort, support and assistance to the elderly and shut-ins of the parish. Samaritans visit the lonely both at home and at the nursing homes, drive to the doctors or grocery store and offer other services depending on the situation. They also help package and deliver holiday gifts five to six times per year.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul Conference

The members of this international organization are called Vincentians. Their primary work is home visitations within the parish boundary. They also do volunteer work at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen and Thrift Store in Clearwater. The Conference is funded primarily by donations from the poor boxes in the church. The Vincentian home visitation involves directing the client to the various agencies that are available to handle their problem. It also involves giving them financial assistance as well as food, clothes and furniture. Vincentian meetings are twice a month.

Substance Abuse Ministry

A dedicated ministry serving the needs of individuals and families who are co-dependent on alcohol, food, chemical and/or other addictive substances. The purpose of the ministry is for individuals to realize they are not alone, they can be helped, and recovery is possible. Help is available through education and support.
