To
provide the safest possible environment for our children, all adults who take on
positions of responsibility, and who at times will probably be alone with those
they are serving, must attend a
SAFE ENVIRONMENT WORKSHOP.
If
you are considering volunteering for such a position of responsibility, upcoming
Safe Environment Workshops are posted online at www.dioceseofstpete.org. On
the top bar, open the link entitled, Calendar. Look for SEP (Safe Environment
Program) listings.
Mission
Statement
The mission of parish religious education is to
assist all people in
learning and living the mystery of Jesus Christ.
To serve this mission, through the help of
God's grace, we offer formal and informal instruction and formation whereby each individual may
embrace a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and live as His follower for the advancement of the Kingdom of God.
The goal of all catechesis is connecting faith
to life and life to faith.
Ongoing, lifelong religious education is the collaborative effort of the
domestic church (the family), the local church (the parish), and the
whole church.
The parish doesn't HAVE a faith formation program. The parish IS the faith
formation program
Parents are the first and foremost religious educators of their
children.
Therefore, sincere cooperation between parish staff and member families is
necessary to bring about the formation of children and youth. Such formation includes:
- growth in understanding and acceptance of Catholic doctrine;
- awareness of, and active participation in, Catholic liturgical and sacramental life;
- embracing the fundamental principles of Catholic morality;
- exercising the life of Catholic prayer.

SEVERE WEATHER
PROCEDURES FOR FAMILIES:
The
safety of all parishioners is of primary concern.
-
If you judge weather conditions to
be unsafe, do not come to the parish.
-
Determine if Sunday school is
officially cancelled and closed by calling 442-7081.
-
If Sunday
school is officially closed, your child's Catechist (or
Catechist Assistant or Class Parent) will attempt to contact
families of that class. He/She may ask you also to
participate in a "telephone tree" by calling another family.
