About Us
The goal is to provide positive opportunities and functions
(activities) for the members of the parish community to enliven,
revitalize and enhance their individual and communal
spirituality through liturgy, education and Christian outreach.
The focus of the commission is to promote the spiritual well
being of the parish community as expressed in liturgy, personal
devotion and an active expression of our baptismal covenant in
both individual and group witness to the power of God expressed
in faith, love and hope.
Spiritual Growth and Renewal Commission
promotes personal and communal spirituality in our
parish family. Our goal is to deepen our faith and become closer to God
and to each other, through Liturgy, Education and Devotion. Contact us

Adult Scripture Study |
On
Wednesday morning, prepare for Sunday! Examine the lectionary
readings of the coming Sunday Mass in Room 1 of the John/Francis
Wing. All are welcomed to these gatherings of prayer and
fellowship, scripture reading and discussion, held from October to
May.
Time
Commitment: 1 hour
and 20 minutes.

Women's Bible Study |
A Bible study based on the Little Rock
Scripture Study program. It is a parish-based program that leads people
to a greater understanding of the Bible.
Volunteer Position:
Auxiliary Coordinator and Group Facilitator
Required of Volunteer:
Available for four weekly training sessions (times and place to be
announced) and 2 nights/week while the Bible Study is in session.
Sessions may be up to 10 weeks.
Experience Necessary:
None
Training Required:
Four weekly sessions consisting of prayer, video/audio lectures,
reflection, and discussion.
Time Commitment:
Four weeks of leadership training of about 2 hours each before the study
begins. Two evenings/week while the study is in session consisting of one
evening for a 45 minutes leader's meeting and one evening for Bible Study
approximately 2 hours.

Catholic Resource Center |
The Catholic Resource Center provides
a broad selection of Catholic materials, including books,
multimedia, and religious articles, which will allow the Lord,
Jesus, to reign more fully in our lives. Special effort is made to
select items which celebrate our Catholic heritage and which will
appeal to all age groups. The center is run totally by volunteers
who make it possible to be open a variety of hours during the week.
If you would like to volunteer, please call the parish office, and a resource center volunteer will return your call. The
center is located in Room 8 of the parish hall with access from the
main parking lot and the hall. For hours of operation, please click
on the Catholic Resource Center link and come visit us.

Evenings for the Engaged |
Evenings for the Engaged
is sponsored by the parish. It is series of seven sessions usually
presented by a team consisting of dedicated, Catholic married couples and
a priest or deacon. The purpose is to explain the joys, problems, wonders
and satisfactions of marriage as a sacramental covenant between each other
and Jesus Christ. Each meeting is held at the home of a married couple in
the parish. This program is the norm for marriage preparation at Light of
Christ.
Volunteer Positions:
Host Couple. Presenting Couple. Prayer Couple and Banner Couple.

Practicing Catholic.

Marriage Encounter |
Weekend designed for married couples to make a good marriage great. The
emphasis is on communication between husband and wife, who spend a weekend
together away from the distractions and the tensions of everyday life, to
concentrate on each other. It is a unique approach aimed at revitalizing
Christian marriage. |
Marriage Preparation
Program |
This program helps to
prepare the engaged couple spiritually for the sacrament of
matrimony. The couple should also prepare for the financial and
worldly encounters of their marriage vocation. Diocesan guidelines
require a six-month notice period, which gives the priest and the
Parish Engagement Ministry Team ample preparation time for
completion of forms, and the engaged couple time to attend required
parish and diocesan programs.

RCIA Inquiry |
The Rite of
Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is a comprehensive catechetical
process. The classes are designed to bring people interested in joining
the Catholic faith into a full knowledge of the church and the Sacraments
of Initiation. Classes are also designed for Catholics who desire to
deepen their Faith Journey

Member; Session Facilitator; Catechist; Hospitality team; Sponsor/Faith
Companion

Attendance at RCIA meetings every Thursday
Experience
necessary:
Organizational Skills; One year Practicing Catholic after receiving the
Sacraments of Initiation.

Time Commitment: 2.5 hours weekly; some weekends during Lent.

RCIA Sponsors |
RCIA Sponsors are
companions and guides to those folks who are seeking to learn about the
Catholic faith and think they want to be fully initiated into the Catholic
Church. A Sponsor�s witness and friendship helps the seeker to find a
home here. The Sponsor represents the Church to the seeker and the seeker
to the Church.
Volunteer
Position: RCIA Sponsor
Required of
the Volunteer: A
Sponsor must have received Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation, be at
least 16 years old and a practicing Catholic.

Required: Sponsors
regularly should attend the Thursday night RCIA meetings. In addition 3
one hour classes are required for the Sponsor to fully understand his or
her role

Men's Retreat |
The Men's Retreat Group is a group
of men dedicated to the spiritual growth of the men of Light of
Christ parish. The annual retreats are scheduled for the third
week in February. The retreat are organized and presented by the
men of the parish. There is also a monthly meeting during the
last week of the month to discuss our Catholic faith.

Retreat |
The Women's Retreat
Group is a group of women dedicated to the spiritual growth of the Light
of Christ Parish. The annual weekend retreats are held in the
fall. The retreats are organized and presented by the
women of the parish.

Small Faith
Communities |
|
|
Women's Day of Recollection |
A day set out for
the spiritual renewal of the women of the parish. It includes guest
speakers, music, prayer and group activities. The Women's Day of
Recollection is usually held in March.

Coordinator and Activities Coordinator.

Volunteer: Help plan
and organize the day.
Experience

Time
Commitment: Attend two
planning meetings in November and approximately 6 to 8 meetings prior to
the Day of Recollection.

Vocation Committee |
To make
parishioners aware of vocations and to promote new vocations. To
encourage all parishioners to pray for vocations to the priesthood and
religious life. To also promote interest in the youth to think about
their vocation, possibly to religious life.

in the vocations programs to help parents and children to fully understand
the various religious vocations.
