Feed The Hungry "Red Bucket" Food Collection -- The need is great and the gifts are appreciated. Requested items: Pastas and mac & cheese - canned spaghetti sauce- canned (fruits, vegetables- beans) Rice or beans( one pound bags) - canned tuna or chicken - peanut butter- canned nuts and breakfast bars. Please avoid glass containers for safety. God Bless.

Make a Gift through an IRA Charitable Rollover

Normally, a distribution from your IRA is taxed as ordinary income. However, tax legislation just enacted extends the opportunity for the remainder of 2010 and throughout 2011 for individuals 70+ or older to make a direct distribution from your IRA to a qualified charity, such as Light of Christ Parish, the Annual Pastoral Appeal, the Catholic Foundation or another diocesan institution. Such qualified direct distributions to charity from your IRA are not subject to income tax. The new law also provides that you may consider such distributions made in January 2011 as made in 2010. Pennies From Heaven?

Nope-pennies from You! Every time you use Goodsearch.com as your search engine, LOC Early Childhood Pre School receives a penny. It doesn't sound like much but if everyone used Goodsearch as their computer home page those pennies would add up very fast. With a few people's help we have raised over $50 dollars in the first 2 months. Thank you! Just imagine how many pennies we will collect if everyone who uses a computer helps out. Did you know that you can also GoodSHOP? Many top retailers such as Target, Home Depot, and Best Buy participate in this program and will donate a percentage of the amount purchased to LOC ECC. To get started go to you internet page and click on the Tools Tab. Click on Internet Options. In the General Tab Home page address type in http://goodsearch.com and press apply and then the OK button. Click on the Home page button and the Goodsearch powered by Yahoo has become your new homepage. Now just type Light of Christ Early under 'Who do you Goodsearch for' verify and you are all set. The Early Childhood Center is collecting:

- Ink jet cartridges

- Cell phones with their chargers

- Campbell soup labels - All Eligible Products

- "Box Tops for Education" from Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, General Mills, Ziploc, Kleenex and Hefty boxes. Items may be placed in the gray container outside the front gate of the Early Childhood Center or the labels and box tops may be placed in the offertory basket.

- "Bonus Box Tops for Education" from Publix - Check out your local neighborhood Publix store to look for participating products with peel-off coupons on the packaging. Although Box Tops coupons appear on most of the participating brands, sizes and flavors, there are some exceptions.

GOOD STEWARDSHIP IS RECYCLING

We have many opportunities for recycling and/or clipping coupons to help the Early Childhood Center and other ministries in the parish. The Catholic Men's Association (CMA) continues to recycle newspapers. Please bring your old newspapers and place them in the red and green bin located at the north end of the parking lot.

There is also an Aluminum Can Drop off container located near the paper bin at our north end of the main parking lot. Everyone is encouraged to participate in this program and All funds from this collection will be used to support our Parish Early Childhood Programs.

RECYCLE YOUR USED INK JET CARTRIDGES AND CELL PHONES!
Light of Christ Early Childhood Center has an on going fundraiser of recycling used ink jet cartridges and cell phones. Not only does it help the ECC it is also good for our planet.
